Rediscovering Yourself After Motherhood

Who you are today is more important than who you were.

It’s easy to lose yourself in the busy season of motherhood, but don’t think for one second you have lost your identity completely. In an inspirational article by Sara Wasser, she reminds us, “No one else can fulfill what’s been written on your life. No one else can carry it full term. No one else can manage and execute it quite like you. This glory is reserved specially for you.”

It’s important for moms to understand that who you are today, is not looking at who you were. You are beyond the jobs and hobbies that came before. You have been promoted to motherhood.

To fully embrace this season, don't compare your life to others. In today's world of social media, this can be challenging. There is a never ending feed of perfect family photos, happy couples and fit mom clubs. You have to remember that you are only looking at the highlight reel of someone's life and not their real life.  Wasser writes, “When we discover who we are and how we’ve been intricately designed and purposefully equipped by the hand of heaven to fulfill a distinct calling, we’ll cease gazing longingly at the lives of others.”

The busy and beautiful everyday moments of motherhood are preparing you for your destiny. It’s in those moments you learn more about who you are and what your true identity is.
