What are the Black Marks on Public Baby Changing Tables? (& Why You Need to Avoid Them)

In a recent Facebook post by mother, Jessica Wayman, she pleads with parents to be extra cautious when using changing tables in public restrooms. Especially those in single or handicap bathroom stalls.

“Before putting your babies anywhere near these things, ALWAYS wipe them down first. Even if you are in a hurry, even if you have a blanket to lay down. See the black marks? Those are from burnt spoons. Addicts use these as tables while they shoot up. There could be residue from heroin/meth whatever, and other harmful bodily fluids. If someone doesn’t care about themselves, I can promise you, they aren’t thinking about your kids. Be cautious,” Wayman warns.

Following her initial post, she was overwhelmed with comments and questions. Wayman replied by explaining how she knows first hand that babies aren’t the only ones using these tables. She is a recovering addict, and her post was intended to warn all of the “unsuspecting parents who would never think something like this when looking at a changing table.”
